Here is a beer with a mess of hops from all over the world. New Zealand varieties, American too, German also, and Czech, don't forget the Czech Saaz. Maybe they just tossed darts at a map when picking these hops out. That actually would be a fun way to make a beer. Surprisingly, as Boulder Beer refers to this as a British Style Ale, none of the big English hops are on the worldly list. The only problem here is that all these hops kind of become a blend of grassy, herbal, and floral flavors without letting any flavor take the lead. It's also not very bitter, so the malt steps in rather strongly with lots of Maris Otter and caramel flavor. For all these hops, the best flavors of this beer come out of that deep malty background. I just want a bit more hops from a beer called Cold Hop.

Brewer's Description

A unique brew with a rich golden hue. Its pleasantly fruity, floral hop aroma perfectly balances the mild sweetness of the English grains, for a refreshing yet high gravity British Style Ale.
