Ah... Yum a tasty American IPA from Texas. St. Arnold brews a clean and almost refreshing IPA. I say almost because in my opinion IPAs are not a particularly refreshing style and yet Elyssa almost is. The beer is a clean pale color. I do have to say that I am not a fan of the twist off cap. None the less the Cascade hops in this beer are well focused and delicious. I am a big fan of beer with a single hop variety and I think this beer is demonstrative of how well a single hop can make a rich and tasty beer. Crisp, clean, and tasty. The malt side is very light an serves a solid background to the hops. The IBUs raise their arms in a sign of strength, but don't rip out your teeth.

Brewer's Description

A traditional India Pale Ale, the Elissa IPA is very hoppy with a properly balanced malty body. Elissa has huge hop additions in the kettle that give it a wonderful bitterness and is then dry-hopped in the fermenter to create the pleasant floral, hoppy nose. Our reverse osmosis water makes the bitter very soft with no harsh notes to it. The maltiness is derived from British Maris Otter malt. Its rich flavor stands up to the hops that would otherwise dominate this beer. The Elissa is an authentic version of an India Pale Ale (IPA) style. Recommended pairings: Any style of seafood, Indian food, & spicy Thai.
